Purchasing first used Volvo...which is best?

thank you for the input. I'm not a mini-van person by any means....I was looking into a Volvo wagon so I could haul my bicyle and other things around with ease, and I like the quality of workmanship found in the earlier Volvos; the other imports just don't compare. They seem cheap and flimsy by comparision.

I would never go to a dealer for repairs; I would do the minor ones myself, and the major work can be done by a Volvo repair shop that several friends work with and trust...very hard to find in this area! (Viking Automotive in CA).

I walked away from the V70 in question; it would just be money pit.
