Purchasing first used Volvo...which is best?

I walked away from the V70 once I saw the Carfax print out and spoke further with the seller....I think they were more interested in maintaining the "toys" in the vehicle than maintaining the actual guts of the car and consequently let small issues become big problems...no thanks.

I do a lot of bicyling and other sports, so a wagon makes sense. It's smaller than an SUV. I like the workmanship on the earlier Volvos, and the safety factor. I'm presently borrowing a friend's 21-year-old 740 GLT with 288k on it that only recently needed the "major" work done; it's the most amazing thing I've ever driven based on longevity alone(they have taken excellent care of it) and it feels so much safer than the smaller imports which are nothing short of plain sheet metal these days.

My seach continues...thanks for your input. The v70 seller keeps emailing me and trying to sell me on the sound system and the other "toys". No thanks; I need a car that runs. Forget about the toys.
