I'm curious to know what else was done besides spark plugs. Spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor are (I believe) 30K interval maintenance items. Your problem sounds a lot more like cap and rotor than spark plugs (but a look at the plugs would have told a lot more). If the cap and rotor were not changed, you might consider doing that as well. Just my opinion, but 20K for spark plugs is probably just going to waste money. You should easily be able to make the recommended 30K interval, then change plugs, cap and rotor per the recommended schedule.
