A friend of mine called me this morning saying that her '98 S70 non-turbo died on her while driving. She said that she was running around 90 mph and it lost power all of a sudden. A roadside assistance person stopped and found the car over 4 quarts low on oil. She couldn't remember if the oil light came on or not (probably wasn't paying attention anyway). Anyway, I had suggested to her on several occaisions to let me replace the crankcase ventilation system as it was plugged and causing the car to use oil. She didn't want to spend the money on the parts to do this ( like $100 from FCP ). So, I assume that the engine is done for. She said that it sounds funny now when she cranks it over and actually started, idled really rough, then quit. I changed the timing belt a year ago, so that can be ruled out since the cams are still turning.
I'm planning on buying it from her and finding another engine. Would it be possible to easily swap a turbo engine into this one? I have access to a '98 V70 turbo that was wrecked.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
