1998 V70 AWD Wagon w/90K - Looking to replace Fuel Pump.

You are correct about the pump placement on the AWD models. What a pain.
If the pressure gauge blew off the end of the rail, that was the wrong kind of gauge :) It is the same as the Ford fitting. With that kind of pressure, your pump may be OK???
Did you check the relay? #103 under the fuse box. Just pull the plastic top off the relay and check the soldering for cracks.
Your fuel pressure regulator may also be acting up, and that never sets codes.
