a/c high switch

thank you for your help. is the safety switch and the high switch in the same location, or is the safety switch somewhere else. it never runs, no matter what speed I am at and the green light comes on about five seconds after starting the car. the compresor will then kick on for afew seconds and then turn back off. I am still trying to diagnose and you have been so much help so far thanks.
