Very interesting, your remote works but the car will not get into programming mode. I have read just about everything there is to read to get my 1995 to work, but the lack of a blinking light has me stumped.
Of course, the key works great. So for the last 3 years, we haven't needed to carry one of those remotes in our pocket.
One of the mysteries of life!!!

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
