Strut question, wisdom needed V70-XC70 1998

I think you answered your question. You will already pay the labor to compress the springs and disassemble things, so the cost of replacing struts will not cost you all that much more. At 146,000 miles, I am sure the originals are tired, and think of how you would feel if in a year or so, they need replacing. Good luck with your project.
