intermittent tapping noise 850

Thanks for the replies,I might just check ot the motor mount. I thought about the hydraulic cam followers/lifters, but the noise isnt any more noticable with the oil fill cap off leading me to believe it isnt valve train. Tried copper tube, rubber hose and a mechanic's stethescope with a tube on the end . The weird thing is that it seems to be coming from below the head or maybe center mass under intake manifold. What drives the oil pump on these engines, a gear off of the crank, or perhaps a cam with a pushrod? It has a loose pushrod type of clang to it. The car has 190k on it by the way.Keith
