I like the way Volvo is made, since I repair practically everything myself. This Brickboard alone is a good reason to buy another Volvo - I was guided through just about any repair I had to do.
Maybe there are more reliable cars, but my Volvo never failed in a catastrophic way - all failures were gradual, with enough warning to get parts, set time, ask questions on BB.
Small things break here and there, but big ones, that actually move the car - have not failed yet (186K).
So I do not know what reliability is. If a knob breaks, of a piece of trim snaps - I am ok with it. In 7 years of driving a Volvo I have never been towed. No matter what happened, I made it on my own. To me this is reliability.
I am sure my 850 will make another 50-70K without major repairs. The problem is that I need a newer car cosmetically.
I was towed on Hondas and Oldsmobiles. Olds was probably towed more than it rode. That one would leave me stranded often. That is unreliable.
