How does TRACS work? 850 1997

Thanks all, makes sense now. The part that confused me was that the system can actually apply brake pressure. I thought ABS only relieved brake pressure and the human applied the pressure. I saw mention of an ABS pump which I suppose could make brake pressure in absence of a human foot on the brake pedal.
