Hi, looks like our cars are about the same age. I'm afraid I can't give you a diagnosis as my car is still doing OK. The problem is really intermittent - that's part of the mystery. As for OBD II reader, I use ScanTool from www.scantool.net. I have an old laptop which I set up as dual boot linux and DOS (geek alert). I boot to DOS (nice & fast!) and use the DOS version of the scantool software. Actually, I think you can get a pretty reasonable OBD II reader from Amazon.com for about $50, but the laptop has a little more DIY feel to it...
