You get what you pay for, really is true when it comes to car paint. A good shop will remove all trim, remove the dings, sand all of the surfaces to be painted, use quality paints matched to your color code, and add at least 2 layers of clear coat. A cheapie will mask off any trim, paint only what is needed and give it one shot of clear coat.
YOU need to shop around, not by phone or internet, and see each shop and check out their paint process. Let them know that you park outdoors and would like a clearcoat with some resistance to the sun.
Also let the shops know that you think past wax is a wast of time when the car already has clear coat on it.
