I have had Volvo's and bought and resold them for over 10 years. I now have an 01 V70 that has been Volvo serviced all of its life. When you drive 45MPH the car cannot decide which gear to stay in, so the RPMs go up then down. No other problems!!! So I take it to the local Volvo dealer that serviced it, and they inform me that the car did this around 108K mi (it has 168K now) and they replaced the transmission and the rpecious owner complained of this problem even ofter the xmission replacement. They check it for software upgrades and indicate that it has the latest software - it is a geartronics (has a 4 on the auto shifter). So I do not really believe that xmission replacement will fix this problem since it has been doing it since last xmission.
I contacted a person who has worked on Volvo for a long time who tells me that the car needs to go back to a previous version of software and that he had a guy in his area that would do that last year but he cannot reach him now. He has tried repeatedly.
I know some of the skeptics will believe that only Volvo dealer has the answers, but I have found that often independent mechanics know more than Volvo.
Does anyone know of a way to go to a previous version of software and someone that will do this (I am in the Southeast)? What have I got to loose other than all the money it would take to put a second transmission in this car.
THANKS
