loading previous versions of software on 01 V70 V70-XC70

I would still be interested to know if anyone else has loaded a car with a previous version of software (other than the mechanic I talked to).

I emailed 2 of the 4 shops listed in NC and one email kicked back and the other shop says you cannot load previous versions of software.

Any experience on this - the Volvo dealership says Volvo controls this with the machine (VADIS?) and will not allow you to go to a previous version. Being a computer person myself - I would think there is some workaround.
