My wife's 2001 V70 fwd with 96k on the odo began to vibrate on the highway last night. The car had been running fine on a short Buffalo/Cleveland/Buffalo roundtrip when in the last hour an intermittant vibration would pulse in from moderate to severe waves. My guess was a cv joint. Upon inspection this morning I can see that the driver side inner boot has leaked it's grease. Because of the vibration and the clicking noise from the cv joint I would prefer to change the half shaft with a new one, but FCP Groton and Eeuroparts do not seem to carry them. I read about Raxles and will give them a call tomorrow. My questions are: 1) does my prognosis fit the symtoms, 2)why do these online parts suppliers and the ones here in buffalo not carry the half shafts for this year and model, 3) has anyone had any good luck with redoing the boots and the grease on the cv joints?

BTW, within the last 10k I have done the timing belt, pulley and tensioner as well as the shocks, struts and upper strut bushings on this vehicle. My s70 (well now my son's)has over 200k and is still running and looking fine and my old 740 and 760 wagons would probably still be around and running if they had not had problems with that law of physics about two objects trying to occupy the same space!
