Mine starts to squeal when I hit big bumps. After cranking up to 4 and then off for a while it will come back. It was quiet for a few weeks when the weather changed, but the old one is coming out when the weather warms again. I got mine here: http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exec/product_id/1683/nm/1993_1997_Volvo_850_Behr_Blower_Motor_with_Cage/category_id/66 and I think it was $145 then

(shows a later V70 but very similar)
PS the little metal staple on the squirrel cage stays on there for balance
