Don, In my opinion the ecu upgrade is worth the performance. I did the ipd ecu upgrade with the T.M.E. exhaust and noticed a great increase in performance. I live near the ipd headquarters and personally discussed any possible drawbacks with these upgrades. The only problem that could possibly arise, is if your motor was putting out 300+ horsepower, it could lead to automatic transmissions being strained. With these upgrades, your problems arising from the performance enhancement should be next to none.
