Is this just the replacement of the "black box" under the master cylinder?
If so, the replacement is two harnesses and four long thin bolts. It's very simple. You do have to line up the ABS pistons, but that's easy. The only possible thing I can think of that you could damage is to bend one of the pins to the main wire harness.
It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes with the right sized socket wrench. It's a small metric, though I don't remember the size.
If they are quoting you 3 hours of work, then maybe there is something else besides the "black box" control unit?
