I would double check that. I know for a fact that the older style arms are no longer carried by the dealerships in my area, as they have been replaced by the newer single piece design. I used to have the original double piece, and have been running the newer single piece for years now, and have had no problems what so ever. It's just like the stabilizer rod that goes between the anti-roll bar and te strut. Volvo is now on it's third design, and no longer carries the original.

It sounds like you have already discovered that the Haynes was incorrect, but I just wanted to make it clear.
