How many miles on the car?

IMHO, if you are under 50K no need to flush, if 50K-100K, just do something as you propose (put in reg. oil drive 1000 miles and dump it), if over 100K do a flush with a good engine flush such as Amsoil Engine Flush.

The $90 option seems VERY steep.
