Fixed! Here is what I did. Adjust the latch holder down on each side but not so much that the hood is below the side panels. On the bottom of the hood was a rubber stopper where the hood rests on the trim. I stuck one of those felt stoppers that you put on the bottom of chairs. Its less than a quarter inch thick but it provides just enough push to hold the hood up. I have opened my hood several times in the past four days all by myself.
