Barry, you may want to look at Actron model CP9035. I bought mine for around $170 at AutoZone. It is very basic and simple to use. It was not able to read the proprietary Volvo codes, but was able to clear the Check Engine Light regrdless. I have also helped felow BBer clear his CEL and was also able to read the code in his case (it must have been a generic OBDII code).
