strange heating problem V70-XC70 1999

Your thermostat is failing. Drain out a little antifreeze, and replace it with OEM. If you buy a cheap one, expect it to fail in the closed position and have an overheated engine.

The ECC blinking lights indicates an error, probably the cabin temp sensor in the dash being dirty. Override the ECC by sliding the blower speed to higher and the vents off of auto. Leave the temp setting alone.
