Re: Emission Control Warning V70-XC70 2001

So when should one stop filling so as not to get warning lights but so as to also get a full tank. It is not the extra tsp that I want to get in the tank, but I, like others on the board, are anal about measuring mpg, and the only way to get accurate mpg is to always completely fill. On my Taurus, it told me to stop filling when I got three auto shutoffs. There is nothing in the v70 manual that says when to stop filling. Yesterday (my first fillup), I added maybe 1/4-1/2 gallon after getting the initial shutoff. Is that a procedure that is going to turn some idiot lights on.

On a related note, my DTE on the computer showed 500 miles on fillup. The manual says that the computer uses average mpg over the last 12 miles to figure dte. At that point, my average was close to 30, which should have given me 600 mile dte. Do they figure to keep idiots from running out of gas by taking mileage as min(recent mgg, 25 mpg).

So many trivial questions, so little time (:>)

thanks

neal
