v70 1998 - Stalls Intermittently_Lambda light_ V70-XC70 1998

I have a very frustrating problem with my 1998 v70.
- Intermittently, it stalls from idle. Frequency 1wk to 3 weeks.
- Cant get it to repeat the stall, just runs fine until it feels like it.
- Starts right up again, repeats same.
- Lambda light comes on. also CEC light.
What I have done.
- Removed and cleaned throttle body.
- Checked ALL vacuum hoses, replaced a couple of small elbows.
- Cleaned out the recirc valve going back into the throttle body.
- Removed and cleaned properly the MAF using the right spray cleaner. This lasted 3wks.
- New air filter.
- Cleaned and used dielectric grease on the connectors for both o2 sensors and
the MAF.
- New plugs, wires, cap, rotor.
- Have analysed the timing of the stall and it is NOT related to rain, or temperature. It has been minus 20 and now is plus 15. (C)
What is weird.
- To look underneath after the last stall, i drove the left front side up on a wheel ramp. The lambda light went out !

Codes.
- Last time I had it read, it was lambda and mechanic said 'try replacing both 02 sensors.' I hate just chucking dollars at sensors when it could be something else.

It would be easier to find if it just stopped on the highway and wouldnt start. This intermittent stuff is for the birds, or the experts.

Note the car is well maintained and runs at 120km/hr for 1 hr daily. Never a problem at speed and works beautifully, smooth, good on gas.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has diagnosed and fixed a similar issue.

thanks very much
