84F and not a cloud in the sky, light breeze to keep things from baking. I do have to work in the shade.

No, do not remove the seat latch and yes, pull out the side covers so that you can see what you are doing. The metal that the strut attaches to is close to the C pillar. Use a flashlight to get a better look.

The trunklid end comes off first.
