Hi Volvo Fans:
We drove a 744GLE for over 11 years with only a few problems. Due to our family situation we decided on a new station wagon. So last Friday we bought a certified V70 GLT. What a nice car!!!. Only 39Kmiles it accellerates very good. only a very silky humm. On the way home things got wrong. The head lights are very dim and cast only ponits of light onto the street surface making it very hard to spott potholes etc. We passed the bay bridge and came to a complete stop. Oh boy blue smoke was coming up from under the hood filling the compartment with an oil burning stench.
I returned to the Tampa Volvo dealer. The manager on his test drive could not detect any oil smell but a second ride with the sales guy revealed it clerly confirmed additionally with nice fresh dripp marks. On Saturday the mechanic found a crack in the turbo housing. At 40k and the turbo is already gone???? Besides that the car went to this 93 point certification inspection. Joke?
The question I am having is
What is the lifetime of a turbo?
And Yes the headlamps. The loaner S70 illuminates a nice white field in front of the car. My cars headlamps had the DLR turned on and the reflectors faded big time. Since Volvo is big on safety I wanted to have them replaced which was flat out denied by the dealer. Since the bumper to bumper warranity is still effective I need to know if head lights are included. What is your experience with Volvo lightning products.
