I did the bread clip fix about 3 weeks ago on my 98 V70. I'm happy to report that it worked like a charm. I drove through Boston the other day, about a 2 hour trip in 90+ weather and the a/c worked the whole way.
It was actually easier to do than I expected. I used and hand clamp to compress the springs while I inserted the bread clips. Let the superglue dry for about 1/2 hour and that was it. So far so good. My gap was about .9 before and .5 after.
I've learned a lot from this board, thanks to Klaus and all for their time and sharing their knowledge.
