Rear shock installation V70-XC70

Sure could use some input here. The shock mount on the 2004 does not appear to come out from inside the car. I removed the shock by dropping it out the bottom but as anticipated lining up the bolt to reinstall the the shock to the lower mount is not easy and I am concerned about damaging the nut which is welded into place.
Any thoughts?
