CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT (LAMDA LIGHT) 850 1997

A warning light appeared on my dash as I was cruising down the highway. It is a green triangle with a lamda in the middle. I am told this is an emissions light. Has anyone had experience with this? I am hoping it will be covered under my extended warranty. Do I have to pay the 86 bucks to get it diagnosed, or should I just wait and see if it goes away?
