having some trouble with my new to me 94 850 turbo wagon - when i bought it there was quite a bit of uneven wear on the front tires which were new in march of this year - rear tires still have 95% or more tread on them - fronts have less than 25%, left side is better than the right and had the ball joint replaced shortly after the new tires were installed when the previous owner noticed the uneven wear marks - right side has almost no tread left on the tire - there is a loud clunking noise coming from the right front only when going over a pothole and not when turning on a smooth surface

i have already checked the ball joints and other steering and suspension components which all appear to be in good condition - my thinking is that it is the strut mounts or spring seats which are shot as the top strunt mount on the right can be turned and the one on the left feels a little loose - would this contribute to such excessive tire wear though or should i be looking for other possible causes?
