Towing damage?

Hi,
Some of you may have read my thread in Opinions about my wife getting the XC70 stuck in a snow drift a few days ago. We had a tow truck come out to the ranch & he winched the car out.
Had a call from my wife a few minutes ago saying that the car now feels really unstable on the icy patches of the highway(has always felt very in control with Nokian`s & AWD). Is it possible that the AWD was damaged while being winched out? The tow truck driver told her to put the car in neutral while he winched the car out.
Thoughts?
