Towing damage?

It's certainly possible that something is damaged, but if the car was in neutral there should be nothing (new) wrong with the AWD. If it was fine before, it should be fine now.

I once had a tow operator winch my car up by wrapping a chain around the lower control arm and drive axle on the driver's side. Needless to say I was less than impressed, and I do think the procedure put undo stress on the suspension components. There is a tow hook welded in place in both the front and rear of the car for just such winching, and using those tow points should not cause any unnecessary strain on anything.

Do you recall how the car was hitched to the winch?
Was the car dragged sideways at all?

How deep was the snow drift? How 'hard' was the drift? You could have bent the unit-body structure and need to have the car straightened.
