Changing Door Panel Colour

My dog has badly scratched up one of my rear door panels on my 2003 XC70.

I have aquired a used panel that is gold or light brown and mine are grey /black.
Has anyone used a fabric paint or dye with any success? Panel is mostly vinal so I'm not sure how it will adhere.

Any advise or passsed experience ?
