The reason I took the car the mechanic is that they are the ones who replaced the fuel pump and relay. I had no gasoline odors until after they did the work. I'm suspecting they left something loose as that has happened in the past with this particular shop. I have many hours under the hood of the car replacing cam seals, plugs, wires and rotor, checking and double checking vacuum lines, replacing various hoses and cleaning up the little bits as best I can. My issue is lack of space and time to work on the car so it goes into the mechanic for major ( to me ) jobs.
One thing that does puzzle me though is this. Does it matter where the various vacuum lines are placed on the vacuum tree? Also, one of the VT caps kept getting blown off ( right after the fuel pump work )and I've ended up using a zip-tie to secure it. Aside from the previous caps perhaps being loose it makes me scratch my head as to why the cap would be falling off the tree.
Once again Klaus, thanks for the reply.
