letting your car warm up 850 96

I was just at the aftermarket page and someone was asking about installing a remote starter. I thought, hey good idea and checked out the additional comments. One of them stated that "Cold idling is very inefficient--drops a good amount of unburned fuel through your system. Better to start it up, wait until the oil pressure comes up, and then drive gently until it hits operating temperature." Any truth to this? Should I no longer let my car warm up before driving it? How can you tell when the oil pressure comes up? Thoughts?
