Don't get confused. Hook up a trickle charger first, THEN disconnect the ground wire to the battery.

What counts is the Cold Cranking Amps, CCA. The higher the number, the better.

While the battery is off, clean the clamps and get all of them shiney. If you have a post cleaner, clean the new posts as well. You don't want to have the shipping coating on the posts to give you problems later.
