Can't remove key! New to me '98 V70 V70-XC70

I had the same problem when I bought my 99. Make sure that the 'shiftlock override' button is not depressed. If it isn't, then check to see if the shifter knob (that you squeeze to change gears) isn't stuck. If it is you have to pop it out.
