We just had our tranny flushed at a dealer last week and the cold shifting problem seems to be worse, but when warm it shifts smoother. The dealer in our home town would not flush it because Volvo origionally said not to. They wanted to do a $2000 Transmission replacement. We have 135 K miles on the car. All others on this post say it is the PNP switch. We have an appointment at a Dealer 100 miles away who agree that it is only the PNP switch. I am sad to say that this will be our last Volvo, because of the inability of the local dealer to repair the car on many occasions. We just dont have the free time to drive it to the other dealer 2 hours away every time something goes wrong (which is increasing in frequency). It is a real shame because the car is so fun to drive.
But back to your origional question, I would probably get it flushed by a good technican (or yourself if comfortable). If you think about it, why would fluid last indefinately under the high heat conditions under the turbo's hood?
