Re: Transmission Fault 850 1994

We loved our 85 DL never a problem with the old girl. She has 210,000 miles on her looks like new, and we love her sooo much that we just put

in a new clutch, and new struts, she's never let us down.

On the other hand the 94 850 has continually abused our wallet. Since day one, while under warranty, supposedly the car was to receive in-

spection prior to leaving the lot. The car let us sit 2 days after we took it home. The battery had to be replaced, the rear seal leaked and had to be replaced, the windshield wiper fluid wouldn't work and the

dealer supposedly repaired it, but a week later had the same problem. Our mechanic ("volvo certified") had to fix it and the dealer refused to pay our bill. This all took place while the car was still under warranty so most of those problems we didn't have to pay.

Needless to say, it has been one nightmare after another, and sadly consider never buy another one. Repeated letters, and phone calls to Volvo, including their annual questionaire have brought no satisfaction. Why do they even bother to mail these questionaire's? Just to feel fuzzy and warm all over? They never seem to respond to any complaints you have!

We happen to be one of the Volvo owners whose Volvo let's us sit. If it

hasn't been driven for a few days, (garage kept) you can bet your bottom

dollar it's going to happen. We found that changing the gas, cleaning

spark plugs, has made a big difference, but even our mechanic feels our

Volvo is a lemon. The heating element went in the driver's seat, the driver seat moter had to be replaced (couldn't move seat), the glove compartment lock jammed, (same problem with 85 DL!) and trunk lock jammed,

all of which costs us a fortune to fix. Mmmm, did I miss anything??

Does Volvo ever recall any of these problems?? I have read many posts, and

the problems above are standard Volvo problems not just with my 94 850.

These problems are still happening with new Volvo's. Sorry, to rant, but

we are really heartbroken. My son has inherited the 85, statistics indicate there isn't a safer car out there. Therein lies our dilemma-

in the future what do we buy?
