The only 'special' tool is PBBlaster. A simple job. The top of the shock is accessed from the forward edge of the trunk. A plate under the carpet. Take the bolts out carefully, the threads are exposed to the elements under the car and can be stubborn. Best way to do it is to loosen, tighten, loosen some more, tighten... until the bolt is free.
