Hey Joe:
I've a T-6 which will require a 7500 mile service check in a few weeks time. I setup an appointment with my local Volvo dealership (place where I bought then car 7/00) and asked what's the 7500 mile check cost. They told me $125. This seems like a lot for a simple warranty required oil/filter change. They did say they swap front/rear tires around and maybe check and tighten suspension items -- but still seems kinda high priced. The labor charge is $74/hr -- so if I assume 1hr labor is required, that means the parts for the service check come to around $50 which is essentially for the oil/filter/washer.
Can I avoid impairing my new car warranty by simply having a local oil shop do the oil/filter change for much less expense?
What does the bone fide Volvo shop offer in 'value' and 'peace of mind' compared to the local oil changing shop?
Regards... Barry Sharp
