Klaus,
Thanks for all your help. The timing belt change went well.
We did hit a snag or twoin the process.
We did not have or use a cam locking tool. We marked the timing positions with white out. The mark on the crank is tough to see...by far the hardest. We took thin wire and ran through the screw holes in the cams and twisted the wire like a bred ty. It held the cams in place just fine.
We did not have the tool for releasing the serpentine belt either. We had to get creative on this one. We used a long pry bar to lift the tensioner to get the belt off and put it back on. Would have been easier with tool for sure.
We took your advice and did not remove the pulley. We just took the four screws out of the pulley and cut the belt off with box cutters.
We replaced the tensioner, belt, and water pump. Nothing to hard there.
I was throwing a MAP sensor code prior to the change, but noticed that the check engine light came on upon start up. Is it possible that it could be dealing with the timing??
I ran the car about 10 miles to suck the coolant into the pump and it ran great...maybe better than before. Assuming the check engine light is dealing with the timing, what do I need to do?? I really don't want to take everything back apart with it running so well. What are my options???
