It's a problem. The rear latch has two settings, first is a safety catch, the second is closed. There is a micro switch (not replaceable) inside the lock that is engaged when the hatch is securely closed.
When you close the hatch, there should be two clicks. If not, a bump or slight stress will move the hatch ever so slightly, and the light comes on. You could find out if there is an obstruction. Or, you could move the latch pin on the bumper rewards about 16th of an inch (2 T40 screws).
