Alternator, Battery, or Other Issue?? -- UPDATE S40-V40 2009

UPDATE: It was the battery.

Last weekend, I checked for milimeter voltage drain across various circuits, but could not locate any. So I removed the battery, took it back to the parts store, and let them do a full test.

Although the battery is clearly rated for 700 CCA, I noticed the technician set their testing device for only 600 CCA. (Is that "standard operating prodecure" for battery testing???) I had to insist that they reset the machine to the correct CCA rating for my battery. An hour later, the tester reported that the battery failed, so I received a free replacement one under warranty.

Everything has been functioning normally this week. There have been no cold start problems, and fuel consumption seems normal.
