Re: Possible new V70 R owner needs advice. V70-XC70 1998

I have a saffron 1998 V70R AWD with the IPD chip and exhaust and have had no problems with the transmission. IPD told me that the transmission should have no problem dealing with the extra power generated from the upgrades. Knowing what I know now, I would not purchase the 98 AWD without getting an extended warranty as I have already experienced AWD problems.

If you can get your hands on a saffron R model I would seriously consider it. It took me months to find mine, and overall I am extrememly happy with it. An S6 is a very worthy opponent. I would probably take the S6 over the R model, except for 1 thing, I am not to fond of the S6 body style in that year.
