Intermittant Will not Turn over S80 2005

That 'click' when you turn the key is a good sign. It means that either the starter is not getting enough voltage or that the starter has a bad soleniod and must be replaced. The electrical portion of the key switch is good.

Check the battery voltage first, clean the contacts on the battery and make sure the ground wire is good. If the battery is OEM Volvo brand, it is original to the car - in most cases, which makes it 6 years old. It is possible to remove the 6 plugs on top of the battery and check the electrolite level. Adding distilled water is an option.

An autoparts store will check the battery and alternator output for free, but that means getting there first!!
