Find a 1998-2000 V70 in a pick&pull so you can get a 'new' tail gate lock mechanism??

Open the tailgate, get a phillips screwdriver because it has a round shaft, push the latch closed until you hear the second click. Turn the engine on and see if the light goes out, if not then the micro switch is probably at fault.

If the light is on, time for black tape... Your security system should also not work correctly.
