You are not missing a thing! He could get any 4 speed auto and put it in his car. The difficult thing is making sure he gets a good one for his money and labor. Yes, the good salvage yards will give him one year, but for me it would be the labor that puts thing out of reach. Most shops charge around 8 hours to
R&R a tranny.
